Mounting work in New York City
What should I tell a pro before a mounting job?
Share what you want to hang, its size and weight, and the wall type if you know it. Say whether you have the bracket and fixings. Ask the pro to confirm the method, placement, and scope before any holes are made. Mounting is on HandyFox's service list. That does not mean every wall or item is suitable. Confirm the task, address, and time with your chosen pro.
Start with the item and wall
List each item you want mounted. For a TV, include the model and the bracket model. For shelves, include their size and what you plan to store. Give the item's weight if you have it. Do not guess if you do not know.
Tell the pro what you know about the wall. Share photos if you can do so without exposing private details. A photo alone cannot prove what is inside a wall. Ask the pro how they will assess the fixing points before drilling.
Agree on what the job includes
Ask about the whole task, not just hanging the item:
- Who supplies the bracket, anchors, and other parts?
- Does the bracket fit the item and the wall?
- Where should the item sit, and who confirms the height?
- Does the work include taking down an old item?
- Does it include patching old holes or clearing dust?
Do not assume that hiding wires, adding outlets, or changing wiring is part of a mounting job. Ask what work the pro can take on. Any extra trade work needs its own clear scope and suitable proof of skills.
Prepare access and permission
Check your lease and building rules before asking for holes in a wall. Ask whether you need permission for the planned work. Clear space around the wall and the route to it.
Tell the pro about wall damage or known pipes and wires. Do not ask them to drill at a spot they have not assessed. Keep children and pets away while the work is under way.
If you also need a unit built, use the furniture assembly guide to list that work as a separate task.
What will it cost?
As of October 19, 2026, HandyFox has no set mounting list price in its service setup. Pros set their own rates. Ask whether parts, old-item removal, and wall repair are included. Read pricing before you compare an estimate with the final bill.
Before you book
This guide does not confirm service at your address. The app flow helps you send the task to a chosen pro. Confirm their work area and time. Read trust and safety; a profile is not proof of a license or insurance.
