Moving help in New York City
How do I plan moving help with HandyFox?
List what needs to move, where it starts and ends, and how the pro will reach both places. Say whether you need lifting help, a vehicle, packing, or all three. Agree on those tasks before you book. Moving is on HandyFox's service list. Pros choose their work areas and rates. A service listing does not promise a vehicle, crew, or open time slot.
Describe the load and route
List large items, box counts, and anything fragile or hard to lift. Give sizes when you can. Tell the pro about items that need to be taken apart and built again at the end.
Share both addresses and the floors involved. Note stairs, lifts, narrow turns, and long walks from the curb. Say whether there are extra stops. Ask the pro to confirm the whole route and load, not just the first address.
Separate labor from transport
Moving help can mean different things. Ask which parts the pro agrees to handle:
- Packing and wrapping items.
- Carrying boxes and furniture.
- Supplying a vehicle of the right size.
- Driving between addresses.
- Unpacking or putting furniture back together.
Do not assume a pro brings a truck or extra helpers. Ask who will do the lifting and whether the load needs more people. If a pro cannot confirm a safe plan, do not treat the request as settled.
For work on a bed, desk, or other unit, read the furniture assembly guide. List that work as part of the scope rather than a last-minute extra.
Check both buildings
Ask each building about move hours, lift use, loading access, and any proof of insurance it requires. Share the rules with the pro before you agree on a time. A HandyFox profile is not proof that those rules are met.
Have a plan for keys and entry at both ends. Label boxes and keep the route clear. Carry medicine, keys, and private papers yourself where practical. Tell the pro about heavy or unusual items before they arrive.
What affects the price?
As of October 19, 2026, the HandyFox service setup has no set moving price. Pros set their own rates. Ask about labor, vehicle use, supplies, stairs, extra stops, and waiting time. Do not assume these costs are included or that every pro offers them.
Read pricing for hourly and flat-price terms. If you need a clean after the move, use the cleaning guide to agree on a separate task list.
Before you book
Read how it works. Send clear details to a chosen pro and wait for agreed terms. This guide does not confirm service at your address. Each pro chooses where to work, so check both addresses and the time. Read trust and safety and the terms before you commit.
